You should know I was turned down from over 25 colleges for a football scholarship – I wrote letters and made phone calls – but every school said NO scholarships were available for me. They said I was too slow and too small. I eventually tried out as a “Walk-on” (a la the movie RUDY) at Miami University in Oxford, OH.

Just wow. The story of Brad is coarse, grounded, and a punch to the gut. The fight to the battle through the deepest levels of trauma up to the top of NFL celebration is all there. I was hooked by the manner in which he plunges into family secrets and individual battles. I chuckled, wept, and drove away inspired. I highly recommend that everyone read this book.
This book is not only a memoir but also an ode to strength. Brad brings you down to the lowest level of rejection and brings you to the highest level of success, all in trying to heal the scars left behind in life. His suffering is your suffering, his victories are yours, and you become infected. Incredible storytelling.
The fact that Unwanted, Unworthy, Unshackled” impressed me on the very first page. Brad’s honesty is refreshing. He does not mince words; he exposes his life, all his blemishes, and all. How does he find his way through those black times and fight his way back to redemption? Heart-wrenching. Towards the end, I got the sense that I was getting to know him personally.
